Clarion: Why did you start an Advanced Communications Club?
Advanced communications teacher Mrs. Cheryl Olcott: The Advanced Communications Club started because a group of former students approached me and asked if we could form a club.
Clarion: How do you start a new club?
Olcott: A new club is started when interest is expressed and a sponsor is available.
Clarion: Who all is in this club so far?
Olcott: There is a mix of seniors, juniors and sophomores in this club so far.
Clarion: What are you planning on doing in the club?
Olcott: The club plans on holding discussions about "communication sightings," viewing video clips, and attending activities to view nonverbal communication.
Clarion: When are the meetings, and where do they take place?
Olcott: The club meets on Fridays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in [my] room.
Clarion: Is anyone able to join? Are the freshmen allowed, even though they haven't taken the class yet?
Olcott: Yes, if they can recite the definition of communication.
Clarion: What are your plans for the club in the future?
Olcott: Each week have a different activity planned, but it all centers around the study of nonverbal communication.
Clarion: Is this club going to be like the actual class?
Olcott: Currently the club has elements like the actual class in that we hold open topic discussions.
