The freshman class officers are kicking off their first year at South by getting involved. Class officers are like voices for everyone in their class. They put together ideas and put the needs of their class first. With the year still at its beginning, the freshman class officers haven’t had much time to start all of the activities they’d like to accomplish. They designed a combined class float for Homecoming with the sophomore officers, and they hope to do much more as the year progresses.
Freshman officers are President Alexis Leach, Vice President Aimee Chapman, Secretary Latasha Shingleton and Treasurer Ryan Blackwell. Class Representatives are Tyler Bolen and Eunji Choe.
All of the officers said that they plan on running again next year because they enjoy the experience. “I really want everyone in my class to have the opportunity to make decisions and be involved in the class projects we do,” Shingleton said.
The sophomore class officers are also planning on many things for the upcoming months. After starting the year with a successful making of a sophomore and freshman class float, they’re definitely looking forward to later events such as trying to get more dances approved and getting more students involved in activities around the school. “I’m really enjoying being president,” Ben Carpenter said. It’s time consuming, but when you finish a project, it’s worth it. I feel confident about the rest of the year and what it has to offer.”
Sophomore officers are President Ben Carpenter, Vice President Lucas Kimerer, Secretary Jenna McAtee, and Treasurer Jarod Baker. Class Representatives are Breeanna Stevens and Julia Baker. Meetings are held during lunchtime or after school when necessary.
