Project X was a party movie in its most complex form, following the path of other popular party movies like “American Pie" and “The Hangover.” - Project X Official Movie Website
Swarms of teenagers went to their local movie theaters to purchase a ticket to the biggest party movie of the year. On March 2, the movie “Project X” premiered in theaters.
Suspense for the movie had been building up for weeks with commercials on TV and advertisements in theaters.
I was skeptical at first thinking that it was going to be a typical, fake, teenage movie that would just waste my time. I was in for a pleasant surprise.
As I walked into the theaters, I couldn’t help but notice the theater was filled with energetic teens that were hyped up for the movie as if it actually were a party. They were crawling on seats, screaming, dancing and going crazy. At that point I knew that this was going to be an interesting experience.
As the lights dimmed and the previews began to start, the whole theater was filled with cheers and clapping from the audience. You could feel the excitement in theater. It was like a high school pep rally.
“Let’s get this party started!” screamed a guy from the front of the theater.
The movie is in the form of a documentary, more like “a day in a life” sort of genre. Three high school boys decide to document their adventure as they decide to throw the biggest party in high school history in order to become popular. All of this happens while their parents are away.
Although this film is every teenager’s dream, it does convey a specific message. It’s hard being a teenager and the peer pressure makes it even worse. Sometimes it is good to step out of your comfort zone and explore new things because you will never know what happens.
That’s exactly what the main characters go through in the movie. They leave the comfort of the social statuses and make new friends, go on new adventures and take a few risks,
I personally really enjoyed the movie that it made me so hyper and want to go out and party after the movie.
This film is rated R due to profanity, drug and alcohol use, nudity and more adult content.
As I came home I saw all these posts on my Facebook wall about how much they loved “Project X” and that it’s the best movie ever. Obviously this movie was very popular with teens and young adults but you shouldn’t take other people’s word for it. Go see it for yourself, maybe you’ll get something from it that someone else didn’t.
