Steve Powell is the father of Josh Powell, the now deceased,
person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Susan Powell. Steve
Powell’s Washington home was searched some months back. The police searched it
hoping to find something to lead them to a conclusion of what happened to
Susan, but they found something completely different.
When searching Steve’s house they uncovered journals and
pictures full of inappropriate pictures of neighborhood kids, as well as
information that is believed could play a part in the disappearance of Susan.
The trials started and the judge made it very clear to
everyone that this was about Steve, and worrying about him as a potential sex
offender, and this trial was not about Susan, or in any way related to her.
This coming from the judge was hard to hear for Susan’s
parents, as they wanted this trial to help lead to closure in the case
involving their daughter.
After an extremely long time of determining what to do about
this case the jury came to a conclusion that Steve Powell was guilty. He has
been convicted, but the time he will rightfully spend in jail is still undetermined.
I think that this story has every right to be covered in the
way it is. Some people argue that this case does not need to be covered in Utah
because it is happening in Washington, but I disagree. I think that since this
is connected to Susan the public of Utah should be aware of what is going on.
