The 2014 Sony Star Class has been announced. Every year after the senior Sony Star’s are announced and the sophomore Sony Star Class is picked, a congratulatory banquet is held in honor of the winners.
“I’m excited about meeting new people and I am looking forward to the new experiences. I hear people bragging about the food,” sophomore Sony Star Alexis Tran said.
 Sophomores get to bring their parents to the banquet and the seniors bring parents and their favorite teachers. Juniors arrive independently and watch the events of the night fold out. Seniors who did not receive the scholarship are still invited to the Banquet every year.
 “Enjoy [the experience] for what it’s worth, don’t screw up, and don’t feel bad if you don’t win because everyone is a star.” Sony Star junior Jessica Santero said.
The banquet starts with a video made by Patriot Productions that includes interviews from the seniors about their Sony experience. Then there is a ceremony congratulating the sophomoreswho deliver a short thank you speech and have to answer a trivia question about Sony.
Following that is the ceremony honoring the Sony Teacher of the Year. This year Sony honored English teacher Rachel Richards.
The Sony Shining Star is then honored with a plaque and a Sony camera.
The Sony seniors are honored and awarded, with speeches made by Kim Rohr, who works in Community Affairs for Sony, and Ed Wallace, Vice President of Community Affairs.
 The winners thank the teachers who inspired them, the loving parents that raised and supported them, and the company that believed in them. They also give advice to the new Sony Star Class.
“Get involved, have fun, but never ever slack off. Always work hard. I can promise you that it’ll be worth it in the end,” Sony Recipient Cesar Serrano said.
