Dinner
on Valentine’s Day can make or break the day. If it is not equivalent to a
scene out of a Nicholas Sparks’ movie, it might as well no happen. A lot of
pressure is put on the male in the relationship to please his date’s greatest
expectations.
Obviously
garlic and onions are eliminated from the list of dinner ideas. Two dollar
tacos or a combo meal are also on the list of doom.
“Chocolate
Cake with strawberries on top is romantic because you always give chocolates to
a girl on Valentine’s Day,” freshman Erika Garibay said.
Homemade
meals are a better alternative to fast food, and are also considered very
romantic. There are simple meals that any guy can make. Chocolate covered
strawberries are very common around Valentine’s Day; they are very delicious
and have a romantic feel.
Those
who cannot cook are not completely out of luck. There are many restaurants
around Escondido that can be considered romantic.
“I don’t
think it matters where we go as long as I’m making her happy, and we’re
together,” junior Felix Mayorca said.
Escondido
Joe’s, on Grand Ave. is a quant coffee-house with a cozy feel. Filippi’s Pizza
is easy and not very expensive; it is also on Grand Ave. and can feel like a
scene from Lady and the Tramp. La Tapatia is a family owned restaurant. It has
a fun, open environment. It is also on Grand but it is farther West, away from
some of the crowd of Grand.
“I
almost always end up at a sushi restaurant for Valentine’s Day, because it is
the one day to bow a lot of money on you and your significant other,” student
teacher Booby Oliver said.
