OG students lack their spirit due to insufficient creativity rallies and spirit days. Most students don’t get involved in school spirit days,rallies, events or have patriot pride nowadays. It can be by the lack of other students who don’t feel like participating or aren’t enthusiastic. Which causes other students not to get involved because they don’t want to be the only ones. When this happens our school’s pride is doomed to decrease.

“I don’t like to give up on our team. I like getting spirited it shows that I care to be a patriot” said sophomore Natalie Scott.

School spirit is a fun experience in high school, the time to dress all out in your school colors at events and rallies and have that passion for your school. To cheer your school on games. The feelings of being proud to be a patriot with your students and staff, most of our students don’t show pride in their school or just don’t have any school spirit at all.

“A lot of my friends and people that I know don’t participate so neither do I because I don’t want to feel werid being the only one participating. If we had more people at our school doing it, I’d gladly like to participate and it won’t feel as awkward because other are doing it.” said sophomore JV cheerleader Guadalupe Feria.

OG used to be a really spirited school, but later in the years the school spirit decreased. Some students are trying to bring it back but when they try to convince others students but they can’t reason with most of them because sometimes you just can’t change people’s opinion’s. The non-spirited students don’t feel like they should show pride since no one else does or may be put down or influenced by the negativity of others which it makes our school less and less patriotic.

“To motivate my friends I asked them why they don’t do it and find the source of why they aren’t participating.” sophomore JV cheerleader Iran Ortiz.

Some students are trying to not let all the OG pride disappear. Like the cheerleaders. At JV/V games the cheerleaders try to pump the crowd which works at times. Also ASB is trying to get students into school participation.

“ASB is trying to make spirit days fun, get kids involved, and pep rallies more exciting.” ASB vice president Guisselle Salas said.
