On March 13, 2010 the popular alternative rock band Muse played a concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
The band’s 2010 tour began at Hartwell Arena in Finland and it is now on the North American leg of the world tour. Muse will be making many stops in both Canada and the U.S., the closest being a concert played at the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan. FGR seniors Anne Lawrence and Julianne Potter attended the concert, as did teacher Ms Miska.
The Silversun Pickups opened the concert, but they weren’t the greatest act. Lawrence said “they were decent.” Potter thought the band was funny. She thought that their sound wasn’t great but in between songs the Silversun Pickups were very entertaining. Miska thought the sound of the Silversun Pickups was much like the sound of the band the Smashing Pumpkins.” “They were pretty good sounding, but after a while the songs started sounding the same,” she said.
When the main act, Muse, came on stage it was constant intensity from the start to the end. Potter said “it was non-stop music and fun.” The crowd got really into it too. Everyone was on their feet dancing, singing and having a blast. One aspect of the concert that kept the intensity and wowed fans was the awesome light show. Lawrence said that the light show was so intense “it was better then fireworks on the 4th of July.” Miska thought the light show was “incredible, complex, and interesting to watch.” Potter’s favorite was definitely the green laser lights.
Overall the concert was excellent, and one can see that from the comments of the fans who were there. Lawrence said “it was the best concert I’ve ever been to.” “I’m totally spoiled for every other concert” said Potter. Miska had the same reaction as every other fan did. “It was excellent. Probably one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.” Muse is an excellent band to see live and they keep the energy intense, and while every song is a good one Potter and Lawrence will tell you that their favorite was definitely “Starlight," while Miska’s favorite was “Hysteria."
After being in the U.S. for a while Muse will be making some stops in Canada before returning to the U.S. for even more shows which are sure to be just as intense as the one in Auburn Hills. Muse’s 2010 tour ends in September at Wembley Stadium in London, U.K. If given the chance one should experience a Muse concert, will not be disappointed.
