Last year, the boy’s hockey team made a trip to Madison for state with seven seniors.  The team is making that run again but this time with only one senior.

Connor Doran is the only senior on the hockey team this season and hopes to end his high school career with a state title.

“If we win state, that will be my best memory I’ll ever have.  Winning state is something that really matters.  When you are younger, things don’t matter as much because you don’t think about stuff like that,” said Doran.

As the only senior on the team and one of the three captains, Doran has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

He said, “I have a great load of leadership and I feel that I have to be the example.  When I was an underclassman, I only played hockey for fun and wasn’t very serious.  By my junior year I got a lot more serious about it.”

Doran has shown his seriousness about the game by his dedication to the team and also by improving his skills so that he can hope to play in the USHL and have those dreams become a reality, a kind of seriousness that was seen in Max McCormick who is now playing in the USHL and graduated high school last year.

Doran said, “Max was the senior I looked up to the most because of his hard work, dedication and discipline.”

“I started playing ever since I learned how to walk.  I just threw on the skates.  Between then and now, my favorite hockey moments happen whenever I’m with the team and I won’t ever forget those moments.  There’s only so much time to play so you have to make the best out of it,” said Doran.

The senior said when he leaves high school, he wants the younger kids on the team to remember him in two ways.  First, as a person they can look up to and have as a role model, and secondly, the best- looking one on the team and possibly the best-looking kid ever to play hockey for the Notre Dame Academy Tritons.
