Ever since high school, Ms. Sarah Smirl has always been active. "I enjoy being busy; my day is never boring," said Ms. Smirl.

While attending Oconomowoc High School, Sarah Smirl wasn't involved in many extra-curricular activities, but when she participated, she excelled.

She was on a select tennis team that traveled all over the state, and she won the singles state championship in tennis for her high school.

When she moved on to college, that is when she got more involved and busier.

She attended Carroll College, now called Carroll University, but "it will always be Carroll College to me," she added.

She played tennis at Carroll for the four years she was there. She also was the editor-in-chief for the school newspaper and graduated with degrees in graphic design and educational communication.

"I enjoyed college more than high school because I got involved in college, so I was always busy and met a lot of people,” said Ms. Smirl.

After graduating college, she worked for different colleges and universities in Wisconsin for four years. While doing so, she also coached high school tennis for two years. Ms. Smirl also worked for the NCAA for a year in Indianapolis.

In 2008, she got the job at Notre Dame Academy as the Associate Director of Admission. Most students know her as, in her own words, "the lady in charge of Ambassadors with Mrs. Konop." Ms. Smirl stated that the reason she applied for this job is because she enjoys working with students.

She imagined herself as an English teacher because her favorite class as a child was English but changed her mind during college. "You won't be seeing me teaching in the future," stated Ms. Smirl. She can sometimes imagine herself being a nurse but does not have any intention of a career change.

"I enjoy playing tennis, running, cooking, spending time with family and friends and watching TV when I have time," said Ms. Smirl. "Yes, I am a Glee addict."

Besides watching Glee, Ms. Smirl likes watching the Food Network because she likes to try cooking and eating different kinds of food.

Students who get involved in the Ambassador Program or help in the Development Office really get to know Ms. Smirl and think that she is a fun person.

"I like her a lot because she babysits my sack of flour and gives me candy. Seriously, she is a very nice person and I can see why so many students like her," said senior Cullen Johnson.

"Stop by my office if you have any questions about being an Ambassador or if you just want to say ‘hi!’" said Ms. Smirl.
