In the wake of the January 12 earthquake that devastated the country of Haiti, communities everywhere have taken it upon themselves to help those in need in any way they can.

Last week, Notre Dame students raised over $3,000 to aid in the relief efforts for the earthquake victims, and many others in the Green Bay area have taken up the cause, including local musicians.

Musicians United for Haiti, a benefit concert to take place at Tom, Dick, and Harry’s on Sunday, January 31, will feature more than nine bands from the area. These include Boxkar, a rock and roll band from Northeast Wisconsin; Unity the Band, a reggae band from Appleton; Sonic Circus, a rock band from the Fox Valley; Fine Line, a rock band from Green Bay; Running Blind, a hard rock band from Northeast Wisconsin; Emily Kliment and Chad of One Week Rage with members from both Lodi and Luxmburg; Rob Anthony, an acoustic musician from Appleton and Kerry Michaels, an acoustic folk singer from the Manitowoc area.

Tickets cannot be purchased ahead of time, but the cost of $10 at the doors will go towards relief efforts in Haiti. Children under the age of twelve will be able to attend the concert for free.

The show will begin at 11 a.m. and could be a very positive time spent on an otherwise average Sunday afternoon. Even if you have already donated money toward the effort, continuing support is needed to help the people of Haiti. This could be a great event to enjoy with family or friends, and, most importantly, spend the day giving back those who desperately need help in times of struggle.
