On Friday, January 26, the Performing and Visual Arts Society (P.A.V.A.S.) held its semi-annual talent show. The show featured ten acts including many vocal performances, a harp performance, a guitar duet, and an interpretative dance. The performance was scheduled to have eight acts, but two additional acts were added to the end of the show.
The night was filled with music and an odd duet of voices said some audience goers. The biggest comedic hit of the evening seemed to be a Backstreet Boys parody performed by sophomores Drew Lehman and David Soucie.
“I think Drew and Dave’s Performance of the Backstreet Boys’ song was extremely comical,” said sophomore Bobby Marti. “I don’t think I have ever seen anything so unique in my life. It was just odd, but it was funny none the less.”
Senior Scott Bacon said he had the same favorite of “when Drew sang Backstreet Boys,” said Bacon. “Drew’s singing was ridiculous.”
One of the more unique performances of the night was the Celtic harp played by junior Kathryn Abbott. She began with a brief introduction about how she came to play the harp, followed by her performance.
“I think that the show was pretty successful overall, but it could have gone better,” said Abbot. “I heard that there was supposed to be a band opening the performance and one closing it. I also heard that the football team was supposed to be performing a chorus line, and none of them showed up.”
The show had a variety of acts that were well-received by the audience. The only complaint was the small turn out.
“I think that everyone would have thought it was better if there were more people,” said Bacon.
However what the show lacked in numbers, it made up for in originality and talent.
“I think that the show was interesting and unique in its own aspects,” said sophomore Sean Cooney who worked on the tech crew at the performance. “Especially since some of the acts didn’t show up. I think that it should have had a wider variety of acts to make it even more interesting than it was.”
