Maya Robinson `13 never thought she’d be a debutante—in fact, she so dreaded the experience that she implored classmate Aleia Johnson `13 to join her. Almost every Saturday since September, both girls have attended mandatory practices and training sessions to prepare them to be “presented” at the Delta Theta Sigma Sorority Cotillion ball this May. Each contestant spent the year fundraising for college scholarships for students who could otherwise not afford to go, and the girl who raised the most was crowned “Miss Jabberwock.” About halfway through the preparation period, Robinson discovered she truly enjoyed the experience, and proceeded to further engage herself in her fundraising and etiquette lessons.
