With 2005 coming to an end, it is a good time to take a look at what has been going on in the last few weeks and what else to expect at CHRHS. I want to start by thanking all the parents who helped pull together Jammer night on December 10th. Everyone involved thought it was a huge success. That is what our students have been asking for, and the parents came through….. Great effort!!! I have hopes that over time we can host other activities.
One of the issues being discussed right now is the academic schedule. At this point we have been meeting with parents, students, and staff to see what the strengths and weaknesses are in our current schedule. We have surveyed people and are looking at the results. There may or may not be changes made, but it is time to examine what we are doing to make sure we are meeting the needs of our students.
We have also been looking at two extracurricular activity policies. The first is the substance abuse policy. Mr. Cook, our athletic director, is heading up a group of interested people who want to make sure our policy is working. Parents, coaches, administrators, athletes, and board members are looking at this sensitive topic. Secondly, we are looking at the academic eligibility policy. Again, we are holding open discussions to determine the goals of this policy, and trying to see if we are meeting them.
Two of our faculty members were recently recognized at the Chamber of commerce dinner. Faith Vautour was recognized as the educator of the year, Judy Clossey received the spirit of the community award. These two are a great example of the amazing staff we have at CHRHS, congrats.
A couple of quick notes of events in January; on the thirteenth is the Winter solstice dance, and mid terms are shortly after that, January 17th – 19th, plan ahead.
The year is nearly half over. Seniors, you are about to enter your last semester of school. I know a lot of you are eager to get to June, but try to remember to enjoy this last semester.
