Most of these obligations are parking tickets. Each year students are able to purchase a parking pass from the school for twenty dollars. If a student does not purchase a parking pass or is parked illegally in the parking lot, they may receive a ticket. Senior Allison Trostle has received four parking tickets this year. “As upperclassmen, we should reserve the right to park free in our school’s parking lot,” Trostle says about the unfairness of getting a parking ticket.. Each ticket is ten dollars, and must be paid before the end of the school year. Even after getting a parking ticket, Trostle still did not purchase a permit because she feels it does not teach a lesson to the students. Trostle says she would like to know where the profit from the parking tickets goes.
Senior Nick Jaisingh has received two parking tickets this year. Jaisingh also feels that the parking tickets do not teach a lesson, but just make the students angry. Jaisingh says that charging for a parking pass is unfair because “the school doesn’t insure a student’s car unlike some other schools.” Like Trostle, Jaisingh did not buy a parking pass after receiving a ticket.. Jaisingh knows the money from parking tickets goes to Inter Club Council. He still feels that is wrong to give tickets, because not everyone is in certain clubs, so they shouldn’t be giving money to clubs they do not support. Next year, students are hoping that the school takes the costs of having a parking pass away so the students can park freely in the parking lots.
