SJHS Lady Cougars softball team, are you ready to show what you’ve got? This year they bring to the field new plays, new team members and a whole new form of teamwork. There’s no "I" in team and the Lady Cougars softball team always shows how teamwork pays off.

This season Lady Cougars’ games officially start in April. Their practices have already started and they were able to recruit new members for the team. Walking through the halls of SJHS the softball team spreads their eagerness for the season to start. The team consisted mostly of seniors and juniors and a few sophomores. New members that tried out and made it to the team also show great eagerness and dedication for the new season.

Junior and softball team member Yanilda Gomez refers to softball as her favorite sport and said it’s more like her life. "I can spend hours or even days playing softball; it’s something I enjoy and have a strong passion for," said Yanilda. Yanilda also said there’s nothing else she’d rather do than spend her time playing such a sport.

Mrs. Amante, basketball coach and Physical Education teacher also assists as assistant coach to Coach Wagner, who is the official softball team coach. She is eager for the season to start and expects things to take off this year with the team. Mrs. Amante said, "Sports are all great and for me to be able to coach the basketball team but also help coach the softball team is great." She enjoys everything she does with the team and she believes with eagerness, dedication and hard work the softball team can go all the way to the playoffs.

The SJHS softball team has the ability to make it all the way to the playoffs and bring home numerous wins. Congratulations to all you ladies that made the softball team! Prepare your gloves and bats for March practices.
