Did you know that there are many hidden talents around our school? Okay, so you might know some of the many SJHS students who have special talents. Let’s take singing for example. You hear people singing in the classrooms and in the hallways all the time, but there are few who are lucky enough to have the gift of singing.
Three of SJHS’s future singing stars are Krystal Maldonado, Que’kenya Small-Rivers and Rednael Long.
“Singing is my passion, it’s a way for me to express myself and to deal with many things that happen in my life,” said Krystal Maldonado, a sophomore who sang in last year’s talent show. Many believe she has a beautiful voice. She’s sung in church, talents shows, plays, and in many other important events. “There is nothing I want more than to do something I love, like singing; I just can’t imagine my life without it,” she said.
Que’kenya Small-Rivers, a junior at SJHS, loves to sing as well. “Singing makes me happy, it fills my soul,” expressed Que’kenya.
She has been singing since she was three years old. She started singing in church and she’s also done many auditions. She considers a singing career in her future “Singing is my life. I take it very seriously and I hope I have it in my future. I can see myself in the music business and hopefully make it to Broadway,” said Que’kenya.
Do you remember last year’s Christmas Play? Well, senior Rednael Long was in the play and she sang beautifully. She is also a member of our choir and Step team. “Singing means the world to me. I enjoy it because it makes me forget about every problem I have,” she said.
Even though she doesn’t consider singing as a future career, she wants it to always be a part of her life. “I want to be a psychologist, but singing is definitely going to be added to my studies,” she said.
You are welcome to post suggestions on this website for any hidden talents around our school.

I think it's great that so many students are talented in their own way at SJHS. Not only are there gifted singers, but also gifted pageant queens - one of which is Lisa Drouillard, who has won many titles after competing for 5 years. Lisa, as well as the many other talented students at SJHS, inspire me to share my God-given gifts with the world as well, just as they have.

This article shows the passion these three girls have about singing. All three of them express themselves through singing. The three girls the editor wrote about in this editorial can inspire people that want to sing to be serious about anything they want to pursue. I hope that these three talented females pursue all their dreams because their passion for singing is remarkable.

I really enjoyed reading this article simply because it dispayed some of the many talents that are hidden in St. Joseph's High School. Many, if not all the girls at SJHS, are talented. I believe that by some of the girls coming out of their shells and showing their talents, it will encourage many other girls to show theirs too.

Quekenya is my BFF and the other girls who sang made me so proud. I never knew some of the girls who were on the stage could sing, they blew me away. I look forward to seeing their furture performances and I hope their singing careers take off.

I had the pleasure of hearing these three ladies sing on several occasions. But i never thought Que'kenya could sing that well. When i heard her singing "hallelujah" for Daniella's angel part. Also, i remember Mr. Cooke asking for Que'kenya to sing a song for our class last year. It's nice to know that St. Joesph girls has more talent then just being artistic, good dancers, or smarts.
