(March 30, 2001) -- Two dead, three injured in Santee, California after 30 rounds are fired off from a revolver by 15-year-old Charles Andrew Williams at Santana High on March 5.
Fourteen-year-old Ryan Zucker and 17-year-old Randy Gordon were  killed. A 29-year old teacher and a twenty-22-old security guard were among the ones who were injured.
English teacher Maral Guarino said, “It made me wonder why this is more of a common occurrence than an audit. What are we doing as a society, including parents and teachers, to cause this?”

According to investigators of San Diego County, they don’t have any motives, except for the fact that Williams was mocked constantly by many of his peers.  According to investigators, no really knows the answer as to why Williams decided to bring a .20 caliber gun to school and go off on a rampage lasting six minutes.

“Its obviously something to be taken seriously, but not to the point where we all become suspects”, said senior Hannah Choi. “I have a lot more sympathy, than I have hate.”
According to a study from the National School Safety Center at Pepperdine University, the most school shootings occurred in 1992-1993 and the least occurred in 1994-1995.  Juvenile arrests for murder have increased by 90% the past years.

As for bullying in schools, “people just don’t understand when stop really means stop,” said sophomore Nane Zadouri.  She said that many teenagers are trying to find their place in the world and the only way they feel superior is by making fun of others.

Clark students said they are more aware of their actions and that of their peers due to this incident.  Junior Artak Dilanchyan said, “I think that there was no need for all of these school shootings.  It’s just nonsense.”

Williams is currently being tried for life in prison or 500 years in prison, with no chance for the death penalty.
