(May 23, 2002) -- After last week’s elections and a series of run-offs, the Associated Student Body and class officers for the 2002-2003 school year is finally set. Class elections were first held last Monday along with the ASB presidential runoffs. Students were able to hear the candidates’ speeches in an assembly and vote for their choice.

Hasmig Ekmekdjian emerged as winner in the ASB presidential runoffs.

The second round of class elections was held last Wednesday for run-offs in five class officer positions. Newly elected ASB President Hasmig Ekmekdjian plans to “to promote dances, and to get ASB involved on the first day of school during the assembly.”

MeMe Tran, next year’s senior class president, said, “We are planning on having many senior activities, such as continuing the senior barbeque tradition which started this year. Also, putting on a very successful prom.”

Along with Tran, the other officers of the class of 2003, including vice president Marina Giwargis and secretary Narine Panosian, agreed that they plan on making senior year an unforgettable year for the class of 2003.

Current Sophomore Class Vice President Armen Mnazakanyan, who is next year’s junior vice president said, “ I am looking forward to help hold a great Junior Prom for our class,” he said.

These newly elected officers will gather at the May 30 ASB Installation Banquet at Burger Continental in Pasadena.
