(June 3, 2003) -- As if taking a Glendale Community college class wasn’t enough, Clark students interested in learning technology applications in commercial and fine art have access to the Art Center College of Design’s night program (ACAN). Students who are interested in pursuing a career in the media or commercial art industry, can find significant appreciation for the program as it offers the same instructors and facilities the Art Center Bachelors program provides.

It is a mistake to think that this program offers fine art classes only. In fact, the list of digital media and graphic design classes outnumber the fine art classes. With full access to the computer and design labs, Clark students interested in art and design technology will be at home.

ACAN’s intro to Flash, introduces students to the web animation program, Macromedia Flash, a professional standard for producing high-impact web experiences. After learning how to create a powerful portfolio presentation using animation, sound and simple interaction, Clark students with some existing knowledge can be taken to an all-new level of Web expertise. If that wasn’t enough, the instructors take you through Dreamweaver, Fireworks, FreeHand, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects to enhance your web animation.

Photography courses give full access to Art Center’s vast and clean darkroom. Still, the Saturday High program does not offer access to Art Center’s facilities. Stepping up from Saturday High to night classes isn’t a cakewalk either. The courses are challenging and need a devoted student to reap all the benefits. The instructors teach at a college level pushing their students to the limit. If you’ve been taking the Saturday High program and want a new outlook on your education. ACAN is highly recommended.

The programs span a 14-week period and generally meet twice a week. The classes are not cheap; anywhere from 700-900 dollars each, but the classes may be worth their weight in gold. They help an undecided student see if art school is what they are really interested in pursuing. If you’re at all interested in attending Art Center, check out www.artcenter.edu/atnight.
