(May 4, 2004) -- Twenty-seven senior girls eagerly sit waiting to hear about sororities and scholarships as they enjoy ice cream sundaes Thursday, April 23 at an ice cream social sponsored by the Glendale Area National Philhellenic Association (GANPA). Seniors Lusine Abramian and Nina Sanchez represented Clark. During the first part of the social, the girls enjoyed self-made ice cream sundaes while conversing with other girls from their school and meeting new girls from other high schools. After enjoying their ice cream, women representing GANPA spoke about the philanthropic sororities that they represented. Former sorority sister Georgette Archer, representative for the GUSD high schools, discussed her UCLA Delta gamma sorority, which supports the Blind Children’s center as its philanthropy. The social ended with information on a scholarship sponsored by GANPA offered only to the girls who attended the social. In order to qualify, the girls had to have at least a 2.6 GPA, various community service involvement, and active participation in school clubs.
