Rocklin High School is starting a new tradition! VAPA Student of the Week! Individuals who are in VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) are involved in activities such as theater, band, dance, choir, or art. One student per week who is in this department gets to have the honor of being VAPA student of the week, which shows that their hard work and effort they have portrayed throughout the school year has been acknowledged.

Senior Susan Clegg is Rocklin High's first VAPA student of the week!

Interviewing Clegg has been fun and full of laughter! She was very surprised when she heard that she was VAPA student of the the week. Throughout the interview I began to understand how dedicated she was to do her best in dance and theater.

Q: What VAPA classes are you taking?

A: "I am currently taking Dance 2, along with Dance 3, and Theater 4."

Q: How long have you been in theater?

A: "Since freshman year, so four years now."

Q: Which is your favorite VAPA Class?

A: "I love dance and theater! I can't pick between the two because I love both of them."

Q: What compelled you to be apart of the VAPA department?

A: "I love the fact that I can go out on the stage... and express who I am. You can bring out a different part of you. You can be someone else without losing a part of you."

Q: Are the arts going to be apart of your career in the future?

A: "No. It's a fun way to express myself."

Q: When will your next performance be?

A: "End of October, early November for Ghost Light."

Susan Clegg has certainly deserved to hold the title, VAPA student of the week!

Ghost Light is the first play of the school year! It is showing October 27th, 28th, 29th and Nov. 4th, 5th, and 7th. This fall play is said to be a great show and a little bit creepy! So come to the show and support VAPA!
