In case you hadn't noticed, there is actually something to watch on TV now. And that's because all the new and returning shows have premiered and, while some starting with a flop, others are already creating a buzz.

“‘Beauty and the Geek’ looks like it’s going to be my favorite show this season,” said Andra Stetson, senior.

Perhaps the most popular among the female Rocklin High crowd, “Grey's Anatomy” is back and booming, despite the controversial sacking of actor, Isaiah Washington. The premiere on September 27 last week earned an 8.7 rating which was the highest of the night, even surpassing it's biggest 9pm timeslot competition show, CBS's “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”. However, this rating is a 21 percent drop from last year’s premiere which pulled in an astonishing 25 million viewers.

Some new shows this fall with promising premieres are “Gossip Girl” on the CW, it's competitor on NBC, “Bionic Woman”, and “Journeyman”, a new drama about a man who is uncontrollably moving back and forth through time, trying to make sense of it all.

"The best looking new show for me is Journeyman," said Chante Stewart, senior.

The premiere aired right after the much awaited second season premiere of “Heroes”, the show with our favorite cheerleader. Heroes’ premiere rating did drop by 10 percent from its debut and this could be due to its ever-thickening plot. Nonetheless, plenty of RHS students are holding faith in the evolutionary show.

For those of us who prefer a more comedic program, some favorites returning are “My Name is Earl”, “The Office”, “Ugly Betty” and 2007 Emmy Award winner for Best Comedy Series, “30 Rock”. And let's not forget, Comedy Central's absurd and raunchy “Drawn Together”, “The Sarah Silverman Program” and “South Park”.

“The South Park premiere was hilarious… Cartman pretended to have Tourette’s.” said Tyler Mackanim, sophomore.

Also, there doesn't seem to be a lack in reality TV any time soon. The CW's America's Next Top Model has returned for it's 9th cycle and most of it's loyal viewers have already decided who's hot, who's not and who, like, so totally needs an attitude check. Among the reality sassiness are MTV's the Real World: Sydney and Celebrity Rap Superstar, a show where "celebrities" try and show off their rapping skills in front of some of Hip-Hop's veterans.

All in all, the premieres for the new season have been fair and there is most certainly something to watch for every one, every night of the week from 7pm to 11 pm. Let's just sit back, relax and see what stays, what goes and what merits a season pass on TiVo.
