The word Thanksgiving can mean a lot of different things to people. I could mean time to spend with friends or family. It might even mean eating some really good food. Who can resist those smooth mashed potatoes with gravy? Or even turkey and ham with stuffing? A few SBHS students elaborated on their favorite Thanksgiving foods.
For junior Hina Moheyuddin, her favorite Thanksgiving food is the mashed potatoes.
“My mom makes them,” said Moheyuddin. “Like oh my gosh, they’re like so tasty.”
Dr. Katherine Foster, a health and anatomy teacher, said she prefers an alternative food.
“I eat tofurkey, it’s tofu that’s turkey flavored,” said Foster. “It isn’t shaped like a turkey or anything, it’s like a white block.”
Senior Austin Pan said he loves the mashed potatoes and gravy also.
“I believe the mashed potatoes symbolized the courage the pilgrims had and the gravy symbolizes the hardships they went through.”
When asked what his favorite Thanksgiving food was, senior Adam Davis said, “Pie, any kind of pie.” When asked why pie was his favorite, Davis added “Cause it makes me fatter!”
Senior Cassie Pate said she definitely loves the mashed potatoes.
“They’re so good, my favorite,” said Pate.
Although a lot of people have favorites, some do not.
Freshman Dalan Hoskins said that he doesn’t have a favorite.
“Oh, when it comes to Thanksgiving, I’ll eat anything. I don’t care what it is,” said Hoskins with a big smile.
Junior Coy Briant also said he has no favorite.
“I will eat absolutely everything and anything; I don’t have a favorite whatsoever.”
