On the night of Oct.1, San Benito High School held the annual Night Rally at the football field. Rally Club President, Josh Villegas, was in charge of organizing all the activities and performances.

The opening performance was James Zuniga’s choir class singing the national anthem in front of the audience. The cross-country runners ran a lit torch around the track before lighting two large bonfire pits. Another performance was by the class of 2010, who put on a dance to a few Michael Jackson songs.

Senior Jessi Castro said, “I had a fun time doing the dance for other classmates in the audience”.              According to the response of the audience, the performance was one of the best.

The homecoming theme, “Balers Ready for Battle”, was announced at the rally, as were the homecoming royalty, which were Raelynn Heredia escorted by Charles Adams for the freshman class; Monica Lopez escorted by Kyle Skinner for the sophomore class; Hina Moheyuddin escorted by Jacob Hunter for the junior class; and for the seniors Kate Modic escorted by Courtland Thomas, Carly Di Domenico escorted by Josh Villegas, Gia Scagliotti escorted by Evan Morris, Katie Thorpe escorted by Austin Pan and Bernadette Rodriguez escorted by Cameron Pecsce.

Sophomores dominated the peanut butter and jelly making and eating contest. Another game that was played was the obstacle course. Two competitors from each class were chosen to spin around with their foreheads on a bat, and then run through rings that were lying on the ground; and then continue onto the last obstacle of throwing balls drenched in tapioca pudding through Hula-hoops attached to their partners head.

The freshman pulled through and won this activity. All of the winners of each activity won points for their class.
