For the past few years the P.E clothes at San Benito High School have been the same. This year there was a dramatic change in the P.E department. The P.E clothes aren’t red shorts like last year and the shirt has almost no red.
Even though that red is on of SBHS colors, underclassmen’s are not allowed to wear them. Those clothes have been replaced by gray shorts and a shirt that shows some Baler spirit.
Although many students talk about this issue a lot during their class some seem to care less.
Freshman Oscar Villalobos said, "It doesn’t affect my learning at all because it’s not that important." Villalobos said that he has no interest in the changes made and the changes that may come soon. "It doesn’t matter because at least it has some red”, Villalobos added. Freshman Eduardo Hernandez said, “It is not fair because the older students got to wear the old P.E clothes. Hernandez added that, “the P.E clothes had helped some people stay in task because of the gang related problems”.
Villalobos pointed out that “it's not about being fair or not being fair is about the staff wanting the best for the students at SBHS".
Many wonder if the old P.E clothes will come back or just change every year. Though the change might have happened because a new school year means a whole new system of changes.
