Roseville High School student government is hosting a cell phone recycling campaign to fundraise money for the Class of 2014. Student government will be collecting old or used cell phones and will turn them in to Yakety Yak Wireless, which allows the school to receive some money in response.

Phone accessories, such as cell phone chargers, are also being accepted but are not required. This drive began last week and will end this Friday.

The sophomore class decided to take on this campaign as a method of earning some extra money for future events.

Sophomore class president Mackensie Priley explains that the amount of money received for a phone depends on the quality of the device. She also explains what Yakety Yak plans to do with these phones.

“The price depends on the quality of the phone and if it works,” said Priley. “If they work then they will try to reuse it, but I’m not sure what they do if they’re broken, probably get rid of them somehow.”

Priley is in full support of this campaign and has high hopes in earning money for future Class of 2014 events.

“I think that it will go well. It’s an easy way to earn some extra money to help us become more prepared for the upcoming events during our junior and senior year,” said Priley. “We want to put ourselves in the best position financially for next year.”
