The Roseville High School dance classes hosted the Dancin’ Feat holiday show in the Patti Baker Theater last week.

Some of the highlights of the show were the opening dance with two of the advanced classes dancing Broadway to “Hot Chocolate” from The Polar Express. One of the holiday dances was a comedy from the 2nd period advance class. The song is called “Big and Chunky” from the movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa to celebrate Santa Claus and Christmas.

The show also brought back favorites from last years’ spring show such as “I Feel Pretty,” which includes all of the advanced boys. The show will also again feature alumni for a holiday clogging routine.

“It went well, we had a little trouble in the backstage but the show went well,” said junior Ariel Maroon.

In preparation for the event, the advanced classes practiced everyday.

“Practice is going well and I think it will pay off in the long run,” said junior Logan Palmer.

Last Thursday the dancers performed for Buljan Middle School and Cresmont Elementary School, as well as matinee for RHS students during 4th period. This was the first time the dance program has been able to put on a show for Roseville students during the school day.

After the school shows the dancers had the opening night show at 7 p.m. The dancers also had shows last Friday and Saturday in the evening and one matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m.

“The dancers have worked extremely hard to choreograph most of the dances,” said Cofield.

About 90 percent of the dances have been choreographed by the dancers from jazz, hip hop, to ballet, and even a Russian dance.

“The students have done a really good job,” said Cofield.

This is the first holiday show without Patti Baker. Still Cofield was pleased with her dancers’ performances and feels that the show went well.

“It’s the same show but with upgrades,” said Cofield.
