A series of workshops will be held this month by counselors in order to provide assistance for seniors who want to complete applications to the California State University system. The CSU workshops will be held this Thursday, as well as next Tuesday and Thursday promptly after school.

     The workshops will begin with an online CSU tutorial that will go through and explain all aspects of the application process. Additionally, RHS counselors will be present to address any individual questions.

     The workshops will be held in the computer lab in room 937 so that each student will have the opportunity to use a computer. Almost all college applications are to be completed online. Thus, the workshops will also be beneficial to any seniors without internet access at home or who need help deciphering the process.

    “I would definitely go because I would want some guidance and it would be extremely helpful because it is a long process,” said junior Kathleen Sweeney. “Even though I’m a junior, going to college is definitely something I want to do and I want to begin learning about it.” 

     Counselors hope that students see this as a good opportunity for them to complete their application.

     "I hope students do take advantage of this type of service because it helps and supports them with the information and resources they need," said RHS counselor Robyn Pasco.

     These workshops allow students to get past the length of the application.

     “Filling out college applications isn’t difficult but there are a lot of steps to it,” said Pasco.  

     Similar workshops will be held for applications to the University of California (UC) system next month.
