On Sunday, December 7th, the McGill-Toolen High School and Prep Bands hosted their annual Christmas Concert & Festival. The high school jazz band performed two songs, Angels We Have Heard on High and Car Wash. Both featured several improvisation solos by seniors: David Sheffield, Greg Michener, Patrick Fleming, and Justin Schneider, and juniors: Travis Huggins, Will Regan, and Ross Graham, as well as sophomores: Michael Huebach and Spencer Gayles. The symphonic band played Christmas favorites including Let it Snow and a jazzy version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
The elementary band played after a quick intermission and filled the gym with many familiar tunes such as Jingle Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Have a Holly Jolly Christmas. During the concert, there was a silent auction and bake sale to help raise money for the band program. The Christmas Concert & Festival is the band's largest fundraiser and was very successful this year. The high school symphonic band is beginning to prepare for District Competition and the elementary band is going on tour Thursday, December 11 to different elementary schools in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
