Convenience store 7-11 kicked off the election with its third occasion of the 7-11 presidential election coffee cup polls.  This year blue cups represented Obama and red cups represented McCain.

“Unabashedly unscientific, the just-for-fun poll has proven remarkably accurate in elections past, with results closely mirroring the official surveys by the country’s top political pollsters,” said 7-11 Public Relations and MarComm Director Margaret Chabris.

The 7-11 customers have different views on the purpose of the election coffee cups.

“I think the purpose of the election coffee cups was so people can show their choice of president and enjoy a refreshing drink,” said junior Chelsea Duncan.

The 7-11 customers all have their own opinion on what the purpose of the cups were.

“Americans are retarded and do not actually want to read about the presidential candidates so they buy a coffee cup to show that they are paying attention to the elections but are not exactly reading about them,” said junior Brandon Souza.

The 7-11 election cups seem to foreshadow who wins the election each year.

The cups have never let the customers down in the past years.

“In the first   7-11 Election in 2000, only 2 percentage points separated the cup-counts of now-President George Bush and Democratic nominee, Sen. Al Gore.  Likewise in 2004, President Bush out-cupped Sen. John Kerry, 51 percent to 49 percent,” said Chabris.

Many customers participate in the just-for-fun poll all over the world.  Out of all of the states that were part of this poll Obama received 60% of the votes and McCain received the other 40%. In the end of the election Obama won the votes for president and the most coffee cups sold.
