In this game, you don’t just go along with history, so that you know when the game is going to end, and where a certain battle will take place; you’re just on a battle field, capturing certain areas and completing objectives, just to win your medals.

One of the great features about this game, is the ability to switch between soldiers, with the hit of a button. Often in the game you’ll find yourself miles away from where you need to be; out away from the action. Then with the hit of a button, you’re pinned down behind a wall, while some sniper tries to figure out how to kill both you and your buddy, with only one shot left. Hit the button again, and you’re another sniper, figuring out how long the sniper who’s pinning down your teammates to realize that once he shoots, his time is up.

This game has five different character types, you can be; Support, Special Ops, Engineer, Sniper, and Assault. Out of those four, my favorite two are the Special Ops and Sniper. I mean, support is great, if you’re trying to get a medal for healing your buddies, but unless you’re planning on taking out your enemies with Hello Kitty band aids, I’d suggest something a little stronger. The Engineer is great, if you’re going anti-vehicle, but even that is little help when you’re facing a helicopter, or a tank, if it spots you. The Special Ops have a SMG, C4, and even a knife, for close combat. If you’re in the mood to get crazy, and just completely obliterate your enemies, I’d suggest them. The sniper is great too, especially since you play CTF and Conquest mainly on Battlefield.

The only thing I dislike about the sniper rifle is the wait time in between each shot. If you miss, your target could be gone by the time you finally are able to fire off another shot.

Overall, each of the classes are used occasionally, all depending on the game type, map, and your needs. When I’m playing Conquest (which is where you claim and try to hold territories) on large maps, I’ll find myself using Engineer more than anything, due to the fact that most of my opponents will use vehicles to get to my “flag.” The multiplayer isn’t the only option of Battlefield, of course; the campaign of Battlefield is great, as well, just less commonly played.

In the Campaign, you do certain missions, all based on an American vs. Chinese storyline. You’ll switch back and forth between the American, and the Chinese, viewing the story from both sides. You can switch back and forth between soldiers on the Battlefield with the hit of a button, which is required most of the time. At the end of each mission your kills, losses, and medals are all tallied up, and you gain golden stars, based on how well you did.

If you gain enough stars, you’ll “rank up”, and get a higher rank, which opens up new weapons, and classes for you to use. Whoever developed this game knew what they were doing with first person shooters. I myself am not a huge fan of any first person shooters, nor of any type of war games, but I have to say, this is a must buy. I give it a 5 out of 5.
