On Sunday, September 30, 2007 the Columbus Day Parade was held. New Dorp Lane was filled with entertainment and excitement. The road was decorated with red, green and white ribbons for the start of Italian-American month.

People gathered to see the Tottenville High School Marching Pirates, led by Mr. David LaMorte, perform in the parade. The weather was picture perfect as everyone marched down New Dorp Lane. The black velvet pants and purple suits were stunning as the twenty-two color guards twirled their fuchsia-colored flags in the air. The ninety-eight students of the Marching Pirates were dazzling with their white pants, purple jackets, and top hats.

While performing the song, “Fever,” by Peggy Lee, the crowd went crazy! Everyone cheered the Marching Pirates when they ducked down and snapped their fingers to the beat.

All the people that came out to the parade had a great time celebrating Columbus Day and the beginning of Italian-American month! I would suggest attending next year’s parade for I’m sure it will be yet another blast!
