Ever wondered what all those students are doing in the room full of computers across from the office? Chances are they’re preparing for college.
Last year, the Ballad, Spahr, Andrews and Ingersoll LLP Law firm gave approximately $40,000 to Northwestern in order to create the College Center.
The center has been buzzing with students ever since. Last year, students signed in to the college bound center 3,196 times, and 172 seniors applied for college from our school. 129 of these students were accepted to the college of their choice.
The College Center officially opened on October 31st 2002, and the center has incredible resources: internet connected computers, college materials and literature, and a copy machine.
Ms. Catherine R. Moser is a College Access Program Specialist who works for the College Bound Foundation and is always on hand in the center to help students.
Ms. Moser supports all students, gives positive advice and believes in the opportunity that colleges have to offer for our students.
Every student is welcome in the College Center, as long as you bring a pass from your teacher or make an appointment with Ms. Moser ahead of time.
Northwestern was chosen by Ballard because their organization mentors the students who are in Northwestern’s Law Academy, and they saw the needs of an area for a college access.
The center is mainly used by seniors and juniors who are really motivated and care about their future, but students in any grade are welcome. Ms. Moser is always ready to help.
Before all this became what is today, the location of the College Center was being used as the guidance office. It took a building crew five months to get everything together so that the center would be functioning.
Stop in an make your appointment today-- it’s never too early to begin planning for your future!
