Every year, the students and faculty at CHS get a special break. This “special break” is otherwise known as spring break. For spring break, the students and faculty have six days off from school. During this time, they are free to frolic around and enjoy their break. Some may go on a mini vacation, others may hang out with friends in town, and some choose to stay at home and do nothing but relax.

“I was so excited for this break! This is the first time I have had a full spring break since I can remember,” said Junior Tom Witt. Usually the students and faculty only get two extra days off because of makeup days thanks to snowy winters. This year though, CHS hasn't experienced any snow days, so they had a full spring break. The break gave the students an opportunity to relax and forget about school.

Some students spent some quality time with their families during their break. “I had to stay home during spring break. My brother and sister were coming home from college so we could spend some family time together, since we don't get to see each other very much,” said Senior Tim Morgan. Having a break from school is a great time to rekindle relationships with your family and friends. “My family and I all go to Easter Mass together. It is a great experience when you go as a family. It really helps me understand what love is about because the reason we even have Easter is because God loves us so much, that he sent his own son Jesus to die for us,” added Tim. Having a break from school allows the students to focus on other things going on in their lives.

While some students stayed home, other students were vacation bound. “My family and I went  to Arkansas to visit some of my mom’s friends from college. We rented out a lake house for the week and went boating, jet skiing, and tubing. I was really excited to go out on the lake and get my tan on. It was nice to relax and not have to worry about school,” said Sophomore Maizey Hughes. Students can get over stressed because of school, and spring break allows them to relax and forget about the school environment for awhile.

Though school is an important part of young students’ lives, a break helps to balance the stress they might feel. It is a great chance for the students to spend time with family and to meet new friends. The Tank hopes everyone had a fun and safe spring break.
