It’s Prom season once again, and that means it is time once again for CHS to announce candidates for Prom King and Queen. The teachers of CHS picked eight Seniors, four boys and four girls, to be the candidates. The Seniors nominated are: Tanya Austin, Sean Brier, Clint Caselman, Zane Clark, Amanda Estep, Nathan Rose-Heim, Breana Stodden, and Kirby Stuedle.

One of the Seniors chosen to be a candidate for Prom King is Zane Clark. Zane said, “I’m excited, but I’m also a bit flabbergasted. I never expected to receive an honor like this. Just like the other candidates, I try to give 110% in all of my classes, I work my hardest, and I try to give everything I can to maintain an upstanding reputation with the teachers-- and with my peers as well.” Zane’s activities include Jazz Choir, NHS, Drum Major, DHS, academic team, and tennis.

One candidate for Prom Queen is Senior Breana Stodden. “I think being nominated for Prom Queen is a great honor. It makes me feel like I’ve achieved a lot,” said Breana. “In high school I’ve worked really hard, like the other candidates have,” Breana added. FFA, NHS, DHS, Interact, and Tank Editor are some of Breana’s extracurricular activities.

Being named one of the candidates for Prom King, Senior Sean Brier is amazed. Sean said, “Honestly, I wasn’t really expecting to be nominated. I think the teachers picked me, because I get my work done, I do what’s asked, and I go above and beyond in my activities.” Sean is involved in many activities, including The Tank, Jazz Choir, tennis, Student Council, Senior Class President, and cheerleading.

Senior Tanya Austin has mixed feelings about her nomination. “I was really shocked. Prom is going to be really fun and I can’t wait. I’m also going to be sad, because it’s my senior year, so I won’t be able to participate in these activities anymore,” said Tanya. Tanya is a member of DECA and FFA.

Another Senior selected for the candidacy of Prom King is Nathan Rose-Heim. “I’m a little overwhelmed, actually. I never thought I’d be nominated for Prom King. This is something I would’ve never expected to happen in my lifetime. I would assume the teachers see me as someone who represents the student body or someone who meets their expectations of what a student should be,” said Nathan. “I’m not sure why I was picked, but they must’ve seen something in me they liked,” added Nathan. Nathan’s activities include band and DECA.

Senior Amanda Estep felt honored with her nomination. “I was surprised to be nominated. It is such an honor. I guess the teachers chose me because I’m a hard worker and I keep my grades up. I try to help out my fellow classmates and I’m involved in a lot of activities,” said Amanda. Amanda is involved in Pom Squad, Jazz Choir, Interact, and many other activities.

Senior Clint Caselman is another candidate with mixed feelings. “I was very shocked and happy, and I’m thankful for the teachers who voted for me. I think they did so because I’m respectful towards them and I try hard in their classes,” said Clint Caselman. Clint is a member of NHS and the academic team.

Another Prom Queen candidate honored with the nomination is Senior Kirby Stuedle. “I feel very honored that the teachers would nominate me out of so many of my classmates. I believe a lot of other girls deserved the nomination, so I’m honored to be one of them. I’m very active in school,” said Kirby. “I’m a hard worker in class, and I like to help whenever I can,” added Kirby. Kirby is the Student Council President as well as a member of FCCLA.

Voting for Prom King and Queen will be held during lunch on April 13. The King and Queen will be announced during prom on April 14, immediately followed by the traditional dance the winning couple shares.
