Cameron High School has some exceptionally nice lunch ladies this year. That seems to be making a  difference in the downstairs commons area with student and teachers’ attitude, making it a comfortable area for all students and teachers to enjoy their lunch, and socialize with one another.

This is what these ladies do for the staff and students of CHS every morning. "I usually get to work between 6-6:30 in the morning. Carla does the breakfast; she gets to work at six in the morning to start preparation. Then the students and staff can eat at seven," said Gina Watton.

Then this wonderful staff of ladies start another usual routine. "We prepare for lunch starting first thing in the morning. Ronda is the kitchen manager, Andy helps her with all the mainline preparatory. Lora and Valerie do the food preparation for a la carte. Donna and myself are the bakers (hot rolls, cookies, brownies, ect)," said Gina.

"Lora and myself take care of a la carte; but if the other ladies do get behind we always offer a hand to help them with any other cooking that is needed," said Valerie Slover.

Then for their final routine, these ladies have a little mess on their hands. "We begin clean-up of the day usually from the time the day starts to the time it ends so we are not overwhelmed with dishes at the end," said Gina.

The student of CHS appreciate what these fantastic ladies do for the students and staff members. "Our lunch ladies are absolutely by far a big part of CHS; without them we would not have a warm meal every day. These ladies are very kind--always talking to students and faculty members, getting to know us and are all-around very caring people," said Senior Aly Long.

The lunch ladies have a pretty big responsibility in CHS, staying busy making sure all the food is fresh and ready to go. Even the students recognize their responsibility and their hard work and it is definitely greatly appreciated.
