We all remember a special teacher in our lives--someone that was kind and always pushed us to be better. After this year Parkview, will be losing a very special teacher. With 27 years of teaching under her belt, Lavonne Walhert has decided to retire.

Mrs.Walhert is currently teaching third grade and is scheduled to retire and the end of this school year. “I have loved teaching here. It amazes me that children can be so honest and I think as an adult it makes you stop and think about a lot of things. It’s definitely a growing experience for an adult and if I was given the opportunity to do it again I would in a heartbeat,” said Mrs.Walhert.

Mrs.Walhert has taught a wide range of grades in the past several years. Mrs.Walhert has also been a reading coach for several years, but no matter what she teaches her students are always a top priority. “I admire Mrs.Walhert’s ability to help and encourage her students the most. She always tells her students to do their best and has a wonderful way of boosting her students’ self-confidence. Mrs.Walhert has been a magnificent mentor to her students as well as other teachers in the building,” said Third Grade Teacher Cayla Riley.

With all that she has done at Parkview, Mrs.Walhert will be leaving behind some big shoes to fill. “I can’t even describe the impact she has had at the school. It was incredibly difficult to find a replacement for next year because no one can really replace Mrs. Walhert. We can’t thank her enough for the service she has done here,” said Parkview Principal Clark Dauner. Mr. Dauner has selected Mr. James Berry to fill Mrs.Walhert’s position for the next school year.

Thank you Mrs.Walhert for your many years of service. You have had a tremendous influence on your students, the staff and the school. We will miss you!
