The community blood center has come to Cameron once again. Many students all over the school were excited to help others by donating their blood. The blood drive took place on Thursday, February 17. Many students participated in the blood drive!

Many people were excited to be giving blood again. Senior Jessie Blanton, who has donated blood in the past, said," I am very excited to be giving blood once again. It makes me feel very good to know that by donating blood I am saving 3 lives. I am honored to give blood and I will certainly continue to give blood in the future."

Some people donated blood out of the kindness of their hearts. Others donated to get extra credit. Senior Brooke Bradshaw, who has also donated blood in the past many times, says," I do fell good when I give blood knowing that I am helping people all over and possibly saving lives, but I also give blood to get extra credit that will help me in class."

Other people who were donating for the first time did not know what was in store for them when the day finally came. Sophomore Tori Naylor said, "I felt perfectly fine. It only hurt a little when the took the needle out. Other than that, it makes me feel very important knowing I did a very wonderful deed. The greatest gift of life is giving."

Then there are the people who would like to donate, but are not able to. Sophomore Ashley Zeikle said, "My arms were shaking. I felt like tears could start flowing down my face, and when the stuck me with the finger I immediately felt like I could pee my pants, but I didn't. I felt so disappointed when they told me I was not able to give blood. I guess I will just have to wait until next year!"

The demand for blood is very high. Those who donate should be considered heroes. If you have not donated, you should think about it. Lives need to be saved, and you could be doing just that!
