Milk, Crackers, and Syrup...Oh My!
Advertising
When you get milk, crackers, and maple syrup together, good times unfold. On Thursday, February 10, pep band stayed late to do the gallon challenge, the syrup chug, and 6 crackers in 60 seconds. Winners got nothing but a good pat on the back, and losers got, well, nothing.

First was the gallon challenge. It’s where a person must drink a gallon of milk in under an hour and keep it down for an hour. Next was the syrup chug where a person must drink a bottle of syrup in 60 seconds. Finally, the 6 crackers in 60 seconds was where a person must eat 6 crackers in 60 seconds with no drinks.

“It felt like my stomach was going to rip right in two,” said Sophomore Aaron Balliett after chugging down a whole gallon of milk. “I was happy I finished it, but the feeling in my stomach was too much. It made me sick and dizzy. I will probably do it again though!” he added.

Your stomach can’t hold a gallon of anything. Two things can happen, you either get rid of it somehow or cause internal damage to your stomach.

Next up is the 6 crackers in 60 seconds. The winner for that was Colby Scroggins. “It kind of felt good to prove that you can actually eat 6 crackers in 60 seconds,” said Freshman Colby Scroggins. “I have heard it was impossible before, so I decided to try it out, and what do you know? I won! It was great to prove those people wrong,” added Colby.

Next up was the syrup chug. To win that they had to chug a whole bottle of syrup in 60 seconds. Junior Nate Rose-Heim won in 45 seconds. The runner up was freshman Mathew McDaniel who also finished it.

“It was really fun,” said Freshman Mathew McDaniel. “I was happy to finish but the feeling was not fun! Four hours later I could still taste the syrup. Anything you ate you could still taste it. Besides that, it was a lot of fun! I would do it again anytime...unless more syrup is involved!” he added.

All in all, the craziness was a great night for everyone. Hanging with friends, having fun, messing around, drinking milk or syrup, and eating crackers--it was a fun night and lasted till midnight. All the events were held by the band directors Mr. Shane Jones and Mr. Blake Duren. They planned everything and held it in the CHS band room. Next year they plan on doing the exact same thing, hopefully with even more people!
