At-a-glance

The bright colorful flowers, or Dandelions, finally bloom now that spring is back. -

Finally! The perpetual winter is over. The sun is shining, the smell of flowers blooming, trees no longer bare, and green grass that must be mowed. More people are outside, bears can come out from hibernation, and the spring sports can begin. Everyone loves it when spring finally emerges, especially Cameron High School students. Spring means many different things, but one thing that high school students think of the most is school is almost over.

Senior Dylan Cunningham can't wait for school to end. Unlike underclassmen, Dylan doesn't have to come back next year. Dylan said, "I'm going to miss the teachers and seeing my friends, but I am glad I'm graduating. When spring gets here I know that school is almost over. I will miss soccer and track though. I am in track right now and get to be outside a lot. Sometimes we have to reschedule our meets though because of the spring weather." Dylan enjoys being outside so he decided to be in soccer in the fall and track in the spring.

Track, golf, tennis, and baseball are the four spring sports students can be in. Freshman Luke Hunter  chose to be in baseball as his spring sport. Luke said, "I have been playing baseball for a long time and really enjoy it; it is by far my favorite sport. That's one of the main things I look forward to when spring gets here. Spring is my favorite season because of the weather, except when it interferes with our baseball games. I kind of can't wait for school to get out, but I'm going to miss playing baseball and basketball, and getting to be with all my friends."

There are quite a few high school students who aren't in a sport in the spring, unlike Luke and Dylan. Most of these students still love springtime, even if they don't play any spring sports. Freshman Cierra Whitaker is one of the high school students who enjoy spring, but aren't in any sports during this season. Cierra said, "Spring is one of my favorite seasons. It is my reminder that school is almost over, and I like the stormy weather. I am excited that the school year is ending, because I wont be a freshman anymore, but I will miss seeing everyone. This school year seemed to go by a little too fast."

Although students are happy that spring is here, they also feel a bit of sadness that another year has gone by so fast.  Next year there will be new freshmen and the new seniors will be waiting for the next spring to come. The cycle of high school will start all over again. Not only will seniors be missed in class, but on the track, field, and court as well. With nice weather arriving, more people are outside and having a good time in the fresh air. Spring brings the sadness of seniors graduating, but it still seems to be most students favorite season.
