Prom King Huston Jack and Queen Meghan Mulcahy. -

At least one time in every girl's life they wonder what it would be like to be Prom Queen. But for Seniors Rashelle Bragg, Bridgette Ingersol, Lindsey Mattox, Meghan Mulcahy, and Brittany Shaul they don't have to wonder anymore...well almost. These girls were all nominees for Prom Queen, which means all they need to be Queen is to have the majority of the votes from the Senior Class. The Prom King nominees are Seniors Corbin Bogle, Huston Jack, Alex Spencer, Nick Steele, and Nathan Thompson.

To become a Prom Nominee you have to be an extraordinary student. The teachers nominate each of them, so it's not easy. Not just any student can become nominated. It is a really big honor for all of them just to be considered as a nominee, let alone the King or Queen. Then once all of the candidates are chosen, the Senior class votes who they want as the King and Queen. Whoever receives the most votes becomes the new King and Queen.

One of the candidates for King, Huston Jack, didn't expect being nominated for King at all. However when asked why he thought he was he replied, " I think it was probably because of my willingness to participate in class with an open mind and always being helpful to the students around me. I definitely did not see it coming but I was very excited to know that I have been a good enough student to be nominated."

Nick Steele, another candidate for King, didn't expect being nominated either. He said, "I was really surprised when I heard my name annouced for one of the nominees! But I guess they picked me because I'm really outgoing and try to get involved in as many things as possible. It would be a really big honor to be Prom King, but the only reason I wouldn't want to is so I wouldn't have to give speech because I would be really nervous. I think it would be worth it though."

Brittany Shaul was a nominee for Prom Queen. She said, "I'm not exactly sure why the teachers chose me, but I'm guessing it was probably because of grades and all of the different things I'm involved with. When they called my name I didn't even know what I was being called for so I was really surprised when I actually realized that's what it was for."

When Meghan Mulcahy found out she was a Prom Queen Nominee she was very excited. She explained, "I didn't really expect being nominated. I mean I guess every girl dreams about 'oh my gosh I want to be Prom Queen someday!'. But they don't really expect it, so I didn't really expect to be nominated. It was nice to be nominated and feel like people actually see what you're trying to do. Just the fact that I was nominated is exciting. I don't know if I'll win or not but it was nice just to be nominated. I'd say I was nominated probably because I try to keep my grades up and I'm involved in a lot of things and I try to put forth effort to everything in high school."

The Prom King and Queen were Huston Jack and Meghan Mulcahy. The King, Huston, was really excited when he was crowned. He said, "When they announced my name I was very excited. I didn't expect it at all. I think all of the other guys had just as much of a chance as I did so I wasn't sure who was going to get it."

Meghan, the Queen, was just as surprised as Huston. She explained, "It was really great. I didn't have any clue who was going to end up as Queen. All the girls nominated were really great girls and I was clueless who was going to be Queen until the last moment. I was really surprised but I'm really happy I won and I'm honored my class would pick me as the Prom Queen."

Meghan said, "Any one could have been crowned. I wasn't surprised at any of the other nominees. They're all active, they keep they're grades up, and they're nice to everyone. Any one of us could be crowned. They are all deserving of it." Nobody really expects these kinds of things, but it's always nice when it happens. And all of these students were thrilled just to be a nominee.
