As this school year comes to an end, it's time to decide what classes students want to take next year. Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity to go to the Grand River Vocational-Technical (Vo-Tech) School in Chillicothe. Now sophomores have to choose whether or not they want to go next year. Those interested in going visited the school on Thursday, February 25. This trip was during the school day for about three hours. When the students returned, some said that they are going to go next year for sure.

One of the students that will be going to Vo-tech is Sophomore Kyler Staiger. He said that the trip was very educational and looks like a lot of fun. Kyler said, "They took us through the shop and explained everything to us. They showed us some of the cars they had fixed up as well. I really liked getting to see everything they do and can't wait to actually be going there and work in the shop." Kyler filled out his application for Vo-tech so he can go. Applications were due Thursday, February 4. This gave the students time to make a decision.

In that amount of time, Sophomore Jake Pendelton filled out his application so he can go as well. Jake enjoyed the trip and said, "I really liked the welding area; that and the automotive technology were probably my favorite to learn about there. Going to Vo-Tech will help me for when I need to fix my vehicle, I can do it instead of paying someone and I can get a job in welding." Jake is going to Vo-tech mainly for the automotive technology and agriculture area.

Vo-tech offers more then just agriculture and mechanic classes. The school also has Health Services classes students can take. Sophomore Kayla Turner said that is the area she is interested in. Kayla said, "The Health Services part was really fun. The teachers were really nice and it seemed like something that would be really cool to do. I haven't made up my mind for sure if I'm going or not, but I'm definitely thinking about it. If I decide to go, I want to take the physical therapy class."

Not all students that went on the trip and filled out their applications will get to go to Vo-Tech. They only have slots for how many openings they have in each class. This school takes up the last two blocks of a regular school day. The Vo-Tech classes are everyday, unlike Cameron's classes, which are every other day. Students get credits and grades for Vo-Tech just like a high school does, so students still have enough credits to graduate. This trip seemed sucsessful in helping several students make up their minds on their educational choices for next year.
