The year of 2009 is almost over. After a long and tiring year everybody is ready to bring on the New Year. New Year's Day marks the end of one year and begins a new year it also is a time to make the changes we want, or maybe need, to change. There are people all around the world already thinking about what their new year resolution is going to be.

What kind of goals do you want to achieve this year?

Freshmen Kody Kent  wants, "To give back to people who have helped me in the past. I think I'm going to do that is I will volunteer to help them out when I can."

Sophomore Chris Fenton has a different goal he tries to achieve every year. "I try to be a new person with the new year. I try to make sure my family is happy and joyful," he explained.

While many kids have goals in their personal lives, the most resounding resolution seems to revolve around students' school work. Each year students try their hardest on the basic school resolutions.

Senior Ariel Lawhon is one of the those students trying to buckle down for that final stretch at CHS. "I'm going to get good grades so I can graduate next year. I'm going to make sure all of my work is done and completed," she said.

And while some students want better grades, others have other facets of high school to worry about. Freshmen Dillan Klindt explains, "My new years resolution is to not get any detentions the rest of the school year."

Then there are some students that try to focus on things they want to achieve outside of school.

Freshmen Anthony Vela wants, "To get better at billiards or pool and I'm going to do that is by practice at least 2 and a half hours a day 6 days a week."

Sophomore Blake Sweet has a different goal then most. Blake said, "I want to try to make a lot of money by working more hours"

Sophomore Monica Presby is also ready to get to work. She explains her goal is, "To get a job in a salon of some kind for the job experience. To be able to do that, I'm going to start looking for internships and work hard."

If this last year you didn't keep your New Year resolution, then don't worry. It's the past! Start making your New Year resolutions now and work on those. Good luck and Happy New Year from The Tank!
