On Friday, September 18, with the entire school watching, the Homecoming Court was announced. The football and soccer players voted for their top 5 respective class choices a week before they were announced. The votes were added up and whoever had the most votes in the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior class became the attendant for their class. The 3 seniors who received the most votes are the nominees for queen. The candidates for Homecoming Queen are Seniors Rashelle Burdick, Kyla Cooper, and Kelsey Salmon. The Junior class attendant is Caroline Lowenstein. The Sophomore class attendant is Brenna Lobb. Tori Naylor is the attendant for the Freshman class.

Freshman Tori Naylor was ecstatic when she saw Senior Levi Grassley walking towards her, out of all the girls in the freshman class. He gave her the flower and she knew she was the one. She didn't know what to do. Traditionally, once the boy hands you the flower he escorts you down to the gym floor and you stand with him while the rest of the Homecoming Court is announced. However, Tori decided she wanted to sit back down. Then when she realized she was supposed to walk down there she was very embarrassed at making a silly mistake. According to Tori, she really wanted the honor so it made it even better when she got it. It was a big relief to finally have it over!

When sophomore Brenna Lobb received her flower from Senior Scott Walser, she was very surprised. "I was really excited because I was not expecting it at all." She was happy when she got it because she kind of wanted it all along. It's going to make a big impact on her Homecoming this year. Before she was crowned the Sophomore Class Attendant, she wasn't even planning on going to the Homecoming Dance. Now she is really excited for it and she is going with a big group of friends.

Editor's Note: After the announcement, The Tank's very own Caroline Lowenstein was a nominee. Editor Meghan Mulcahy interviewed her for this portion of the article. Junior Caroline Lowenstein couldn't believe when she was announced as the attendant for her class. She was sitting with the band when Senior Dylan Cunningham started walking towards it and she was very nervous and confused. "I just stared at him like he was crazy when I saw him walking towards me. I had it set in my mind that one of my friends was going to get it, so when I saw him coming towards me I had no idea what to think," she explained. She never thought she would be picked. When he gave her the flower she was in complete and total shock. She finally stood and walked out on to the floor with him, still in disbelief. Although she wasn't expecting it, she was still really happy received got it.  She is really looking forward to all of the activities she'll get to be a part of.

Senior Rashelle Burdick wasn't really expecting to get nominated, but when she saw Senior Mitchell Ruckman looked right at her, then covered it up very nonchalantly when they got ready to announce her, she knew it was her. She didn't want it really badly like some other girls do, but she was still excited when she got it. "I wasn't like 'Oh my gosh I want this so bad!', but it was still really cool I got it."

Senior Kyla Cooper was so surprised and happy when she was nominated. "When I saw him [Senior Caleb Watson] walking up to me I started freaking out and I got really nervous and my heart started beating. I had no idea it was going to be me!" She had thought about it in the past, but she never seriously considered getting nominated. This all is making her Senior Homecoming experience even better because now she is so much more excited for all of the activities involved in Homecoming. Also, she loves getting dressed up so she's even more excited about it.

When Senior Kelsey Salmon received her flower telling her she was a candidate, she was really surprised. Zak Salmons did a very good job of not giving it away. "He looked at pretty much everyone except me. He didn't look at me once, so I didn't think it was going to be me." She was excited when she got it but she hadn't really thought about getting it. "I've always been excited for my friends getting it. I never really considered myself getting it." She is a lot more excited for Homecoming now. Before she wasn't even going to go to the dance. Now she is going to go with a small group.

All of the attendants were really excited and most of them didn't expect it. A lot of people were surprised by some of the picks made this year, but all in all, everyone is happy for all of the girls. It's going to be a great experience for all of the girls and it will make their Homecoming even better!
