On Thursday May 7 ,the annual Drama Honor Society (DHS) Awards Ceremony was held. This event has been going on for over 10 years now. The night was complete with a musical number performed by Seniors Caleb Cole and Morgan Breckenridge and slideshows recognizing a review of the school year and the seniors, as well as awards given out for categories such as Most Valuable Person and Techie of the Year.

The nominees and winners were all chosen by DHS members, with the exception of categories Actor and Actress of the Year, which were chosen by Directors Ms.Harper and Mr.Williams.

Most of the nominees weren't expecting to be nominated. This was the case for Sophomore Dominic Brazeel who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Best Minor Role, and Class Clown. "I was surprised," said Dominic.

The winners also were surprised, along with feeling honored and excited. "I felt happy [when I won]. I was really anxious to know who was going to win [Techie of the Year]. I wasn't sure if I was going to win because I was kind of slacking off on my job this year," said Senior Chelsea Caldwell.

For Senior Ben Duncan, not only did he win one award, he won three. Ben won Most Valuable Person, Dynamic Duo with Morgan Breckenridge, and one of the two biggest awards, Actor of the Year. "When Ms.Harper announced I had won Actor of the Year, I felt a mix of shock and excitement all at the same time. To be announced Actor of the Year is a great honor and I think that each and every student deserved it."

The other big award, Actress of the Year, went to Junior Megan Mulcahy. "I was grateful because when I first came into drama, I was quiet; other students influenced me to help progress as an actress and I wouldn't be where I am today without them."

According to students who attended this event, the night was successful, except for a few technical malfunctions. "The night went rather well; it's always fun seeing everyone dressed up," said Chelsea.

The students wore formal "Oscar Award" style clothing for the event. Senior Clayton Fleshman agrees with Chelsea. "The night went well; it did have some technical difficulties, but still went smoothly."

The night was also a time to say goodbye to the five seniors leaving DHS this year. "I will miss being in it and doing all of the fun things, but I am ready to leave," said Clayton.

Saying good-bye to the seniors in DHS will be difficult, and it will be difficult for the seniors to say goodbye to the Cameron High School DHS. With new officers and new members for next year, hopefully DHS will be as successful next year as it was this year, but the unique seniors will never be forgotten.
