While most students will spend their summer days sleeping in late and louging around, some students at CHS are taking advantage of earning some college credit.  Mrs. Fagan will be offering an option for those students.

Mrs.Fagan said, "This is a writing class. It's through Wentworth College. It costs $165. "Starting time for this class will be at 9:45 a.m. and run to to 1:45 p.m." The class consists of 15 class periods and 60 contact hours.

Junior Brittany Shaul said, "I love getting ahead of things or knowing things ahead of time, so I figured this was a great way for me to get ahead for college credits."

Senior Laura Carr said, "I'm taking this dual credit class because I wanted to get some of my basic college classes out of the way and high school college classes cost a lot less. I'm also taking this dual credit class to hopefully help prepare me for college next year."

This class is open to graduating seniors or to juniors with a language arts teacher recommendation. A representative from Wentworth will be at the CHS in early May to register students for class. The tuition of $165 will be due at that time.
Wentworth  College proudly partners with many high schools within the state of Missouri to offer a dual enrollment program.

The purpose of the dual enrollment program is to provide qualifying high school junior and seniors the opportunity to earn college credits while completing their high school graduation requirements.

According to Wentworth, "This concept, which started several years ago, allows students exposure to the demands of college level work within the setting of their high school. Approved faculty instruct high school students using a college level curriculum that has been approved and endorsed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost at Wentworth. At the completion of the course, the student is awarded credit for the appropriate high school course in conjunction with earning college credit hours. Students participating in the dual enrollment program are able to transfer credits earned through the program to most colleges and universities as Wentworth Junior College is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a college accrediting association."
