On May 25 the CHS band will load up the buses for a five day adventure to Orlando, Florida. Band Director Mr. Jones says "The bus leaves on May 25th and we will be in the park [Disney World] 26, 27, 28 and drive home on the 29." Every four years the CHS band has the privilege to play in the Disney Parade. Even though the trip may have a high cost, the band does many fundraisers to help pay for the trip.

Mr. Jones says, "As a whole band, our band needs to raise about 40,000 dollars to go to Florida. We are almost all the way there. We have done many fundraisers such as car washes, 4 brochure fundraisers in the past two years, we had a Jamaican Night Out, 2 work auctions, walking taco dinner, carol your neighbor (Christmas carols), and gift basket auctions so we could achieve our goal."

Freshmen Sarah Bachmen says, "The trip will cost for each person that is going on the trip a little over 400 dollars, but it should be worth it. We will be taking 3 charter buses and when we get there we will get everybody checked out and get everything organized and then probably walk around the park for a little bit."

Sophomore Kelsey Carr can't wait until they leave to go to Florida. She explained, " I am very very excited! The trip is only five days which I wish it was longer, but then again I think five days is enough because being away from my family that long could be hard and I think its enough time to walk around the park. We have been doing fundraisers such as selling food, car washes before school started and we had a Jamaican Night Out, which is like we dress up like we are in Jamaica and we serve pie and some other things like that we did all these fundraisers for this Florida trip."

Freshmen Morgan Means agrees with Kelsey. Morgan says, " I am very excited about going to Florida, but I am glad that it is only for five days because Florida is a long way from home."

It seems all the students are excited for their adventure coming up soon on May 25. Each member going on this trip should learn how to work together and get along with each other better. It should be a good experience for all the 2009 band students.
