Victoria covers a cough. -

With spring around the corner, it seems as if now everyone's getting sick. It's just not right! Isn't winter supposed to be the time of Kleenex's and chicken soup? Apparently that's not the case for Cameron High. The sounds of coughing and sniffling can be heard in every classroom, which also have plenty of empty seats. The flu went around with a vengeance recently at CHS, but luckily most have gotten over it.

Passing the nurse's office, it's not uncommon to see two or three students in there. There's only one bed though, so first come first serve. That being said, most students are stuck sticking it out at school or going home. Many choose to tough it out so they don't get stuck taking finals. It causes question on how logical it is to come to school sick, and contagious, risking giving it to others, just so they don't have to take finals, when they should be at home in bed. In the end it's really all a matter of choice of the parents and their son or daughter suffering.

"I missed two days of school but I was sick for four. I came to school though, because I didn't want to take finals," admitted Sophomore Lizzy Yeager. She took some cold medicine and was good to go. She was not too happy about all the homework she had to make up though.

Sophomore Victoria Morales looked towards medicine to help her make it through the school day as well. "I took Ibuprofen to make the aching go away. My body ached everywhere!" When I asked her how she thought she got it, she blamed it on me. I admit I had first-hand experience with this topic. I suffered from the flu and dehydration for a week and a half. It was a terrible time; the first few days I pushed myself to go to school, but that just egged on the germs and I ended up getting more sick and had to miss four days of school. Now I'll see you all here for finals.

Ranging from a mere headache to a raging temperature, no kind of illness is fun. "I think its ridiculous and people shouldn't spread it," added Victoria. Don't push yourself too much, you may just get yourself more sick like I did. Plenty of rest is advised! Get feeling better CHS!
