Jyah Mon! Cameron Marching Band is having a Jamaican Night Out once again. It was originally put together by the former Band Director Mr. Jay Albright and Co-Director Mr. Shane Jones in 1998.  It's called Jamaican Night Out because a steel drum band called Soca Jukebox, which just happens to be Mr. Albright's band, will be playing there. The steel drum bands like his were always related to the island of Jamaica, hence the title Jamaican Night Out.  Jamaican Night Out is going to a fun-filled night including Mr. Albright's Jamaican band called Soca Jukebox, selling of pie and fruits, and students are even making homemade gift baskets which will be given throughout the night.

Jamaican Night Out is going to be held at the Cameron Methodist Church on March 7th from 7:00-9:00pm. The cost is $10 with advanced tickets, but you can still purchase tickets at the door for $12.  Band Director Shane Jones handed five tickets to every band student to sell.

Usually with an event with tickets being sold there's only a limited amount of tickets. Well, not with this event.  It has been confirmed that more tickets can be made if needed.

Students will be serving pie the night of the event and playing with the band as well.  Students' parents are helping with the event by chaperoning, and bringing props to set the Jamaican atmosphere as well.  This event is being held for several reasons, not the least of which is night of fun, but the money raised will go towards new instruments and partially towards the Florida trip.

Sophomore Wesley McDowell is helping with this event.  "I helped with Jamaican Night Out last year and it turned out well so I think this year will turn out good as well," says Wesley.  Wesley hasn't sold any tickets yet, but mentioned he was going to hopefully sell ten.

Fellow Sophomore Kelsey Carr is helping with the Jamaican Night Out as well.  She hasn't sold any tickets yet, but is going to get started soon.  Kelsey thinks the tickets will all sell out and thinks it will be a night of Jamaican fun.  Kelsey helped with Jamaican Night Out last year also.  "Last year was fun and the turnout was good, and I think this year will be good as well," says Kelsey.

Mr. Albright himself even said that it'd turn out well.  "Every time we've done Jamaican Night out we've had a good turnout, raised a lot of money, and had a lot of fun," says Mr. Albright.   He hopes the tickets will sell out.

So with all these optimistic comments about the Jamaican Night Out come see for yourself what the turnout will be at Jamaican Night Out. We'll  see you there!
